Capcom fans who happen to be PC gamers will soon find their addiction fed by GamersGate. GamersGate, an online video game distribution site, and Capcom have entered into a deal which will allow users to purchase Capcom titles from the GamersGate site.
Initially, only a few games will be offered for download. The press release only mentions Plunder and Bionic Commando Rearmed as upcoming titles. Strategy Informer speculates that Devil May Cry 4 could end up being made available through GamersGate, and I have to agree that it seems very reasonable.
If you search at the site for “Capcom” or check the coming soon page, Bionic Commando Rearmed is the only game mentioned. However the site does state that Bionic Commando Rearmed will be available sometime in August, 2008, and the $14.99 game can be preordered.
I could never bring myself to buy a game through a website. There have been too many times when I’ve had to reinstall or things like that, so I appreciate owning an actual install CD. It is a nice option for people who do appreciate quick downloads.
