While there haven’t been many outcries to have GTA IV pulled from store shelves until now, the latest group to set GTA IV in their sights is Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD).
MADD made a general statement in regards to the release of Grand Theft Auto IV that they are extremely disappointed that GTA IV encourages gamers to get drunk and drive without any care to pedestrians or other motorist in-game, and have asked that the publisher of GTA IV, Take-Two Interactive consider pulling GTA IV from store shelves, which all of us know will never happen in this life time.
While MADD is a great organization that has helped many people, unlike most gamers out there, MADD can’t seem to separate reality from a video game. They have even gone as far to ask the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) to raise GTA IV’s rating up to a “AO” rating for Adults Only, even though GTA IV already has a “M” rating for Mature, meaning no one under 17 is allowed to buy the game in stores without parent’s permission. It should be noted that the ESRB rating for GTA IV already states on the package that the game features strong uses of drugs and alcohol.
As Grand Theft Auto IV’s sales increase and millions more gamers worldwide get their hands on the stealer title, you can bet that MADD won’t be the last group to going after GTA IV.
