To promote its Star Wars: Legacy of the Force book series, Del Rey is offering the first book as a free download through it’s Del Rey & Star Wars site. Now fans of the Star Wars movies, books and video games can enjoy a free sample of Aaron Allston’s Star Wars: Legacy of the Force: Betrayal. The Amazon listing states there will be nine books in the Legacy of the Force series, and Betrayal is the first.

According to the site and Amazon, Betrayal follows the adventures of Luke, Leia and Han Solo after Return of the Jedi. The Corellians want to be free of the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances, and are willing to use whatever means necessary to burn bridges. So Han Solo and Leia’s Jedi son, Jacen Solom, and his apprentice, Ben Skywalker, are sent to handle things. The novel has earned a four star rating from Amazon users, so maybe it’s worth the download.

There are four download options available. You can get Star Wars: Legacy of the Force: Betrayal as a .pdf file, an audiobook, an Amazon Kindle e-book or a Sony Reader e-book. If you own a Kindle, you can even download it free from Amazon and have it sent directly to your device. With all those options, you’re bound to find one that will work for you. Be sure to stop by and claim your copy before May 13, 2008, which is when the free download offer expires.

So they’re seriously called Jacen and Ben? Okay, maybe I’ve been exposed to far too much internet fan fiction, but Jacen Solo and Ben Skywalker totally sound like Mary Sue names to me.

  1. I've actually never seen any Star Wars movie or read any book based on it. :P I did play a bit of one of the Lego Star Wars games though!
