iron man the gameLeading this year’s Summer movie season is Iron Man, based on the popular Marvel comic book character of the same name. The film’s video game adaptation, which was released along with the film (on May 2, 2008), has been in development for a while, which we hope has been enough development time so it will stand out from the crowd of sub-par comic book tie-in games.

In a recent interview with Iron Man: the Game‘s producer, Andy Alamano, Marvel.com asked the questions many fans have been itching to ask.

Similar to past comic-to-movie video game adaptations including Spider-Man 2 and 3, Alamano explains that the Iron Man game will feature both events and story elements that were featured in the film, namely the opening and closing to the film. The rest, however, is inspired more from the Iron Man comics, featuring a number of Shell Head’s more notable villains including Whiplash, Madame Masque, The Melter and Titanium Man, all of whom aren’t in the movie. Of course, they will all be design as if they might have, or will appear in the film universe.

Fans will also get to try on various classic Iron Man armors that Tony Stark invented over the years including all three suits seen in the movie. All of these armors are unlockable and will have their own unique features and powers.

One of the more interesting features that does separate this game from other comic book movie tie-in is the customizable options for the various suits. Players will be able to fit their armor and various parts such as the hands, feet and chest, with different weapons and powers, from repulse rays, flame throwers and various missiles.
