A new community website for the free, MMO (massive multiplayer online game) The Endless Forest is now open, as a new outlet for users to interact with one another. Previously, The Endless Forest users has to use the Tale of Tales forum for interacting, however it was unable to adequately provide for them.

So on May 2, 2008, the official community website was opened. The new site allows for a number of things that were previously unavailable. Users can interact with other users, maintain a diary and share images.

The Endless Forest is a different kind of MMO. The game was originally created for the Luxemburg Musée d’Art Moderne, and is more of a living piece of artwork than a game, at time. All players are deer in the forest, and the point of the game is to explore the world. The most interesting aspect is that it can function as a screen saver when the game isn’t being played.

Tale of Tales, ‘s creators, are an independent studio known for games which are both stylish and try innovative new ideas. Their other games include The Graveyard, a short game which is already available, The Path, a forthcoming horror title based on Little Red Riding Hood which has already received several honors and the 8, a game that takes a fresh look at Sleeping Beauty.

I just downloaded The Graveyard demo and The Endless Forest, and can’t wait to try them out. I’m tired of typical, commercial PC games, and intrigued by the artistic and unusual approaches Tale of Tales is taking towards PC gaming.

  2. I think it is. Furcadia bored more. There was really nothing to do. The Endless Forest is, at the very least, beautiful to look at. Plus it adds an interesting screen saver option.
