There have been rumors about a Wii Kingdom Hearts title since the Wii first debuted, but now there may be some merit to the internet hearsay. A leaked image of what may be the July 2008 issue of Nintendo Power shows Sora and Roxas in front of one of the series’ trademark stained glass windows. Underneath the image is a very bold statement.
Sacred Moon. Square-Enix’s blockbuster RPG franchise debuts exclusively on the Wii in Kingdom Hearts 3!
No images from the inside of the magazine or story leaks are available. It also looks credible, as a full screen shot from Forever Fantasy shows the image as a promo from the Nintendo Power subscription website. Plus final page of the June 2008 issue of Nintendo Power had the image of a moon and a hint at the July issue’s content.
We may even have a surprise or two. Can you find the clues we’ve hidden in the moon?
I tried to recreate the page that Forever Fantasy received, by visiting the Nintendo Power Subscription Form pages. Each page I visited only showed an issue of Nintendo Power with a The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess cover as the promotional image.
The Kingdom Hearts series is a system seller, and, if this leak is true, it could mean big trouble for Sony. The company was probably relying heavily on Square Enix to come through with titles like Final Fantasy XIII and Kingdom Hearts to bolster PS3 sales. There’s one thing that bothers me – it looks like the cover features images of Sora and Roxas from Kingdom Hearts II, yet the text refers to Kingdom Hearts III. You wouldn’t think Kingdom Hearts III would feature the exact same characters as Kingdom Hearts II. You’d expect an older version of Sora, Riku and Kairi. I guess we’ll have to wait for the July issue of Nintendo Power to learn the truth.
