J-List recently stocked its supply of dating-sim game Snow Sakura released by G-Collections in December 2007. Snow Sakura stars student Tachibana Yuuji who is left to live with an uncle when his parents head to Hawaii for business. There, he meets back up with some cute cousins and childhood friends and enjoys some romantic moments in the snowy countryside.
The game is available as a CD-ROM for $34.95 (plus shipping) or as a less expensive and boxless download for $29.95. The game, like most of its type, plays on a PC running Windows 98 or better and will occupy a little more than a gig on your hard drive.
Written by Kitagawa Samui, G-Collections calls this one a “classis ‘renai’ (‘true love’) bishoujo game” and a “heartwarming tale of romance that you’ll never forget.” From the screenshots, this games doesn’t look to be the visually hard-core tentacle stuff some people often associate with sexy Japanese games but, instead, a romantic love story with more subtle art.
If you do download the game, you’ll need to also download J-List’s Virtual Mate 2.0 (aka V-Mate) which basically manages your game code (for registration and even de-registration). You are also allowed to download the game 5 times (yep, to 5 computers if you want) and the game manual about 25 times.
Here’s a video clip of the game (no naughty bits included):
