The Detective Conan Wii video game is being released outside of Japan. Case Closed – The Mirapolis Investigation is going to be released in September 2008. There’s a catch though – it will only be released in Europe. Nobilis is going to be release Marvelous Entertainment’s anime/manga-inspired detective.
The star of Detective Conan/Case Closed is Jimmy Kudo. Jimmy was a detective who was accidentally turned into a child by a criminal organization he was investigating. It isn’t too bad though – the organization was actually trying to kill him, not shrink him. So now he’s a child detective.
Case Closed – The Mirapolis Investigation has Jimmy attending the opening of the Mirapolis theme park. Only the grand opening has been plagued by criminal activity, so Jimmy must head to work trying to solve the crimes. There are also mini-games to enjoy if players want to take a break from investigating.
Purists will also be pleased, based on information from Siliconera. The original Japanese voices from the anime series will be available. I’ve never watched Case Closed, but I’ve heard that the English voice actors were atrocious.
The series is a huge hit in Japan. The manga started running in 1994, and is still running. The anime began in 1996, and is also still running – there are over 500 episodes. A live action drama series and 12 movies were also released. So far 19 Detective Conan games have been released on the DS, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, Playstation, Playstation 2, Wii, Wonderswan and Wonderswan Color.

Er, isn't his name Shinichi? (considering the original voices will be included and it's not an American release, it seems a little odd to use "Jimmy"…)
On a side note, I really enjoy your DS otome reviews, especially the one on TMGS2.
Yup. But since it's being localized as Case Closed (the translated anime/manga name) and will include the English voice acting as well, I figured Jimmy would be more appropriate. (Especially since a lot of users searching for "Case Closed" information may not recognize Shinichi.)
Thank you so much! TMGS2 is an amazing game – definitely one of my favorites, and I can't wait for Hana Yori Dango DS. XD I recently wrote up Hiiro no Kakera for Siliconera as well. (Fun game, but TMGS2 and Otometeki Koi Kakumei were better.
)
I'm kinda hoping this guy I'm seeing buys me Ohimesama Debut so I can write up a review of that. (Its kinda an otome game along with being a dancing game.
)
Ooh, that's true… I haven't thought of that.
And I am definitely super-excited for Hana Yori Dango as well. I mean, if it's a combination of a manga and a game I love, it's got to be awesome, right?
Good luck with Ohimesama Debut… I'll have to check out that review if you get it
(Cos dancing games are fun too!)
Its just a small thing I considered – most people in the US likely know it from Cartoon Network and Adult Swim.
Oh definitely! It's coming at a good time too. I took a brief vacation from the Hanadan translated mangas (I own only 1-6), and planned to jump back in for the last 4 volumes (28-32). Now that its at 30, I can start reading/buying again.
Ohimesama Debut supposed to be an Ouendan-style dancing/music game, with clothes you can earn and 6 princes, so that should be great. I'm kind of afraid Ubisoft will get their hands on it though, and it will become Imagine: Ballroom Dancing, like how that Yume White Quartet game got turned into Imagine: Figure Skater.
I saw a couple episodes, but the names offend me more than the voices, so I had to stop before it overwrote my memories of the show when I was little (=_=;;) And I don't even have a diehard subs-only complex.
I must admit I only own up to volume 9 myself, but am excited to hear they are reaching the end, because I hate waiting for new volumes (although I think Viz and Del Rey are pretty good at staying on schedule. A few years ago I wouldn't have believed that I would like Del Rey so much more than Tokyopop.)
Ick, I didn't know they could do that. I haven't played Ouendan or Imagine yet, but it sounds like I should avoid the latter. That QT game you reviewed looks interesting though.
I love the English version of Detective Conan aka Case Closed
I am the biggest fan of d.c…..
I even wrote stories about it. I like Japanese manga beacause I LOVE JAPAN-.-
I used to really love this series too
(not that i don't anymore, but I don't like following long series in the states becaause it's expensive…)
@Randall: I meant to post, but it looks like I forgot (>_<) I don't think it's wrong to like the US version, I just personally don't like it (the US names, etc.). But I'm happy that it has many fans stateside finally! In Viz's reader surveys, on what series you would like to see in the US, I always wrote Detective Conan and now it's here (^o^)
I may be interested in the game, if I find it cheap used or something.
Like blue, I tend to avoid long series. >.< Or I'll get cheap and just get like the first 5 volumes and last 2. (Like the most recent series I copped out on was Ai Yazawa's Nana.)
oh, by the way (if you're not lazy like me and will look stuff up in a dictionary
) HanaDan has an anthology version (11 volumes…?) and each is a little over $10 at retail (of course if you could get them cheaper it would be nice) that's really pretty and full color (the whole series would be a little more than the 7 volumes unless you get it used…). The only downside is that the silver drawings on the cover are in her new style.
I totally love Case Closed!!! Does anyone know when exactly the game is going to be released in the UK ????
@ Shelz – I just checked at Gamefaqs, and a UK release date hasn't been set yet. Its coming out in the US supposedly on December 31, 2008.
wow!!!
I never knew there were SO many DC fans out there
and…ya know "Conan Biggest Fan",you're not DC's biggest fan.
if you tihk you are.

They have:T-Shirts,Ring-Tones,Wallpaper,Writing utencils,costumes,festables,fan-clubs,manga,DVDs,games and WHOLE LOT MORE!!!

its too bad
It's supposed to come out in UK in May! I intend to buy it really soon…
Well…….i dont live in uk!!!!Not fair!!!
Nana!! Depressing… and long… Sooo long… I really want to know how it turned out! On the other hand, I'm at that weird point where I kind of remember what I've read; not enough to remember what I read up to, but enough that I don't want to reread the parts I've read… >__< I just recently saw the movie (first one), finally.
