On June 19, 2008, Coldplay fans with access to Xbox Live and the Playstation Store will be able to play some of the band’s songs in Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. The Coldplay track pack will contain two well known songs and one that is just “meh.” A price wasn’t announced in the press release, but the track pack will likely cost 500 Microsoft Points ($6.25) and $6.25 at the Playstation Store.
The three tracks will come from three different periods in Coldplay’s career. “Yellow,” Coldplay’s first real hit, “God Put a Smile Upon Your Face”, from A Rush of Blood to the Head and “Violet Hill”, from Viva la Vida are all included for playing pleasure.
I’m a tad disappointed. I enjoy a lot of Coldplay’s songs, but “Yellow” is the only really good track. Sure, “Violet Hill” would be fun to play in Guitar Hero, but I’ve heard some of it and, well, its not all that good. I know the band wants to promote a new song, but “Viva la Vida” would have been a better choice.

I'm going to have to disagree. I am really liking Viva la Vida, and on Guitar Hero it would be even better.
What would be great is some Lenny Kravitz.
Ah, but Adam the track in the pack isn't "Viva la Vida". The track in the pack from the Viva la Vida album will be "Violet Hill".
Lenny Kravitz would be good in Guitar Hero. I wouldn't be surprised to see a dlc release with 3 of his songs.
