gamertell visteon dockable entertainment system game boy advance pamphlet coverI contacted Visteon to get an update on its Dockable Entertaiment device with a built-in Game Boy Advance system.

To my pleasant surprise, not only did they confirm that the GBA version of the system is still available to be installed in vehicles but that the company is also looking into a DS and/or Wii version. Here’s the official response from a Visteon Corporate Communications representative:

Yes, Visteon is producing & distributing the Dockable Entertainment featuring Game Boy Advance system. Check out eVisteon.com.

We have begun to look at applications with the Wii or the DS, but it is too early for us to target an introduction date for that new product line.

A “new product line,” eh? Sounds highly promising. Soon you may be cruisin’ the streets with a DS- or Wii-capable device that also plays DVDs and CDs of all sorts. Just imagine the new level of coolness – and a more literal take on the phrase “back seat driver” – you’ll experience playing Mario Kart on the road.

Oops, I think thousands of excited gamers just simultaneously peed a little at the mere thought of wirelessly playing DS games.
