One of the new games announced at Microsoft’s big E3 event was an Xbox Live Arcade title that could sell gazillions on pedigree alone: Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2. A proper sequel to one of the proven hits (and really, the first true classic) of the early Xbox Live Arcade days, the new title looked oh-so-sexy in its trailer, with flashing neon, thumping beats, and frenzied action. What’s really exciting is the inclusion of new multiplayer modes, and the fact that it’s slated for release this summer – making it a perfect ‘twitch” appetizer for the fall’s big guns.
From the press release:
After the DS version, I’m more than ready for some new Geometry Wars, but I’m also stoked for the barely-teased Galaga: Legions, also slated for Xbox Live Arcade release. If it’s half as good as recent retro-revivals like Space Invaders: Extreme or Pac-Man: Championship Edition, we’re in for a space-y treat.
