Comic Con 2008: Warner Bros., Marvel releasing digital Motion Comics

Comic books have always been a way to experience a fantasy filled world with intriguing story lines and character development. Some comics are taking the leap from print to the land of digital media. Imagine a comic book that comes to life on your computer screen complete with voice overs, sound effects, and music while maintaining the nostalgic feel of panels. This is where Warner Premier steps in with Motion Comics.

In July 2008, Warner Bros. announced that Motion Comics will be made available through digital distribution. The first comic to get this treatment is The Watchmen, currently available for free through iTunes until the end of July 2008. After that future episodes will be sold for $1.99 each. Another digital comic starring Batman, Joker and Harley Quinn called Mad Love is currently available for download through Xbox Live Marketplace.

At Comic-Con 2008 Marvel announced it was working with Stephen King to bring a new Motion Comic to the public based on King’s unpublished title N, which is apart of his Just After Sunset collection which will be in stores on November 11, 2008. The story will be cut into 25 separate parts which last approximately two minutes each. The entire collection can be purchased from iTunes or Amazon for $3.99 this Monday (July 28, 2008). Blocks of 5 episodes will cost .99 cents a piece. New episodes will be released five days a week until it wraps on August 29, 2008.
