It would seem that the slow-trickle approach (similar to what Nintendo did with the Smash Bros. Dojo) to publicity is working for Warner Bros. Interactive entertainment and their upcoming Lego Batman game. Man-Bat has just been announced as the newest villain to terrorize Lego Gotham City.
From the press release:
“Once a respected scientist who specialized in the study of bats, Dr. Kirk Langstrom transformed into a powerful man-sized bat after a risky lab experiment produces unexpected results. Robbed of his humanity, Man-Bat swoops through Gotham on his powerful wings terrorizing the populace! Only Batman and his allies have any hope of caging this winged villain.”
Aside from his clever twist on Batman’s name and likeness, he reminds me more of the fly-man thing from The Fly than anything else. Creepy. The game is slated for release September 23, 2008 on Wii, PS3, Xbox 360 and PSP; and September 1, 2008 for the DS and PC versions. Expect more of the same action-platformer-puzzle goodness from the previous Lego Star Wars and Lego Indiana Jones titles.
