Censored image of Mr. Endowed by JJpeace123, an example of a sporn Spore creatureThe Spore Creature Creator was released by EA June 17, 2008. It was designed to be a program that anyone could use to create friendly Spore characters so when Spore finally launched in September 2008, they would have creatures to import in.

However, the internet can be a seedy place, and soon some extremely friendly creatures were made with Spore Creature Creator. These creations, dubbed “Sporn,” are Spore creatures with oversized or extra choice, anatomical bits or who look like they are engaged in various stages of intercourse.

EA and YouTube have reacted to “Sporn” by attempting to stifle it. EA is issuing emails and removing accounts for people who violate the game’s terms of service (TOS) by creating “Sporn” creatures. Also, EA and YouTube are pulling “Sporn” Spore creations from the the video site when they discover them.

At right is an example of a Spore sporn creature, censored here since the image is not safe for work (NSFW). This particular creation, dubbed Mr. Endowed by YouTube creator JJpeace123, is one of a growing community that can be found on the internet. This particular creature’s video was uploaded June 17, 2008, and has received over 18,500 views so far (on August 1, 2008 2:15pm CST).

Okay, seriously – don’t go looking for this trash. I had to search through some to try and find an image example, and my eyes still haven’t recovered. Its really sophomoric and a bit mind-boggling as well. Obviously some people have a bit too much free time. And yet, a small part of me wants to marvel at these Spore Creature Creator users’ creativity.
