Frogger comes to the iPod Touch and iPhone

Konami’s gaming classic Frogger is now available in the Apple App Store. The game has been tweaked to work on the iPhone and iPod Touch, while still preserving classic Frogger gameplay. The game is $9.99, and you’ll need the iPhone 2.0 software to play it.

Basically it is the same game as before, just with touch screen controls and updated graphics. You guide the frog from one side of the road, across the river, to the safety of the bank. If you aren’t careful – you’re roadkill.

So far, Frogger isn’t receiving a lot of love in the Apple App Store. So far the game has received over 80 user reviews, and the average rating is a star and a half. Almost every review complains about the $9.99 price, and many suggest that $5 would have been more appropriate for a simple, retro game like Frogger. I’m inclined to agree with them – if Square Enix can sell a new release like Song Summoner on iTunes for $4.99, then Konami should be willing to sell an adapted classic like Frogger for the same price.
