Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball, Blazing Lizard’s forthcoming Xbox Live downloadable game, has been named one of the nine showcase winners at the 2008 Independent Games Festival (IGF). This means that Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball, along with other winners Ashen Empires, Enigmo, FireTeam Reloaded, Glum Buster, Goo!, Mockingbird, Mushroom Men and ToyBox Heroes, will be displayed at the IGF Pavilion during the 2008 Austin Game Developer’s Conference.

Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball was the only downloadable title to be honored at the event. It also was the only Xbox 360 game to be named an IGF showcase winner. As you may recall, Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball is a dodgeball game featuring teams of pirates, ninjas, zombies and robots as they fight through four different arenas, while using special, to prove which group is superior. The game is scheduled to be released in Q3 2008.

Congratulations to Blazing Lizard and Flashman Studios, the publisher and developer behind Pirates vs. Ninjas Dodgeball. This is quite an honor for the game, and I’m sure it will help boost the title’s popularity.
