A new game patch has been released for Paradox Interactive’s PC strategic simulation, Europa Universalis: Rome. If you own the game, it is incredibly easy to procure and apply the patch. Just connect to the internet, load up the title, select the “Check for Updates” option on the menu and download patch v1.3.

The EU: Rome patch isn’t just designed to fix bugs. This patch actually adds new gameplay functions and will make the game more challenging. I wish Sims 2 game patches did that.

Some of the patch v1.3 updates, taken directly from the EU: Rome patch press release, are as follows:

  • Three new intrigue options, giving the player more opportunities to interact with their characters in their own country and in foreign states.
  • Barbarians are now a bigger threat. In addition to appearing from the borders of the map, they can now create their own kingdoms.
  • Improved event interface clearly displaying which characters are involved in the different events.
  • 3 new playable factions on the British Isles: Catuvellauni, Pictii and Siluri.
  • AI improvements ensuring challenging gameplay in the long term.

If you own EU: Rome, make sure that you update your game before you play. It looks like it will be worth it.
