Nintendo Flogos pink Kirby cloudsBack on Tuesday, Gamertell reported that Nintendo was going to be holding a mystery event yesterday (September 18, 2008) promoting Kirby Super Star Ultra at various locations with “Kirby” in the name. It turns out the ‘event’ was Nintendo and Flogos releasing thousands of Kirby-shaped clouds into the air. So if you live in Birmingham AL, Medford, NJ, Memphis, TN or Kingston, PN and you thought you saw pink Kirbys floating through the air, you’re weren’t hallucinating. You were just seeing a really cool marketing promotion.

Gamertell reader Brian left a tip on the original story, alerting us to the presense of Kirby clouds and mentioning that Flogos‘ clouds are made of biodegradable soap and used to promote items and events. For today’s event, the company used its machines to create pink iconic game character replicas. In an official press release from Nintendo, Greg Stanhope of Flogos stated that the Kirby clouds mark Flogos’ first use of colored clouds for a campaign.

This is just too cute for words. I wish they’d released these in more cities now. A Kirby cloud would have totally brightened my day.
