Sometimes these games specifically created for women, that can seem demeaning, surprise me. Take Beauty Factory. The name sounds stereotypical. Plus the premise – build a cosmetics empire – also comes across as pandering. And yet, I can’t help thinking the game, a business simulation, actually sounds intriguing.
You move up the corporate ladder in Beauty Factory, starting out in the cosmetics lab for the company. You create the different kinds of makeup you’ll be selling to consumers. Then you create a whole marketing and commercial campaign to become a success. Plus, you have to continually keep up with the latest fashions and trends, which means always being ready to alter your gameplan.
Beauty Factory‘s just been released, so expect to see it in stores soon for $19.99. If you’re curious and want to sample before buying, the official Beauty Factory site has a free, 114mb demo. Both the demo, and the game, are only for Windows PCs running XP or Vista.
