mortal kombat vs dc universe comic book cover alex ross gamertellLast week, Midway released details about the Kollector’s Edition of Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe (MK vs. DC) which will be launching alongside the regular version of the game on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 next month (November 16, 2008 in North America; November 21, 2008 in Europe).

As previously detailed, the Kollector’s Edition will feature box artwork and a removable print by comic book artist Alex Ross (known for his work on the Kingdom Come series, among others) as well a 16-page comic book by co-creator of the Mortal Kombat franchise John Tobias.

Tobias worked alongside Ed Boon, another MK co-creator, until he left the company in 1999 to form a new development studio with Dave Michicich and Joshua Tsui known as Studio Gigante. The team released just two titles (Tao Feng: Fist of the Lotus in 2003 and WWE WrestleMania 21 in 2005) before ceasing operations.

A new video interview with Tobias that details the creation of the MK vs. DC comic book — which will explain in classic comic book fashion how the Mortal Kombat and DC universes have come to be merged together, and why Superman isn’t simply pummeling everyone he comes across (hint: it’s to do with magic) — has now been released and can be found below.

Be sure to check out our previous post about the Kollector’s Edition for a video detailing Alex Ross’s creation of its box artwork and exclusive removable print.
