The Tom Clancy series of videogames will foray into the real-time strategy genre later this year with the release of Tom Clancy’s EndWar for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable and the Nintendo DS on November 4, 2008 in North America and November 7, 2008 in Europe.
According to Major Nelson (a.k.a. Xbox Live Director of Programming Larry Hryb), a free demo of the Xbox 360 version of the game is now available for download from the Xbox Live Marketplace. It features samples from both the single-player and multiplayer segments of the game.
Developed by Ubisoft Shanghai, EndWar takes place during a fictional World War III in the year 2020. Players will be able to control vast armies of units using only a microphone and voice commands, although a standard controller-based control scheme will also be included for those that prefer it.
In the single-player department, players can try out the “Prelude to War” tutorial section of the game’s campaign mode. As for multiplayer, the demo features support for one-on-one “Conquest” (control point capturing) matches on the “La Mancha, Spain” map.
