When Wii Music was unveiled to the gaming public at the E3 Media and Business Summit, it was quickly panned as lacking the style and substance of established music franchises such as Guitar Hero and Rock Band. Its reputation certainly wasn’t helped with Shigeru Miyamoto’s demonstration of the game at the show.
His decision to hold a WiiMote to simulate an instrument also did little to inspire the fortunes of the Nintendo faithful. This performance, along with the company’s emphasis on sales data over content, led to bloggers, show attendees and gaming publications to roundly criticize Nintendo’s presence at the show and openly question their commitment to their fan base.
As Wii Music nears its release date, opinions on it have ranged from spectacular to subpar. Whether or not gamers will embrace this product remains to be seen. However, they will at least know just what they are getting, as 48 of the proposed 50-plus songs are now revealed for the public to ponder.
It remains to be seen if gamers will like (or dislike) the list. One thing is certain, though: The more we know about this game, the more we have a chance to judge it on its own merits.

I like Wii Music. True, I waited for the price drop to $19.99 at Gamestop, but I really wanted it even before it came out. Now I am overjoyed with the product. Still have plenty of songs to unlock, but already I have the sense that there is in fact lots of depth and intricacy to this game as indicated by ign's Tsao.
Lots of folks wanna bash the game, and I'd like to comment that people are too quick to trash this game. It's simple and deep. It's easy to pick up and play, yet hard to master. Patience is a virtue, and it is a key to enjoying this game. I praise Miyamoto and his crew for their efforts. Good job, Nintendo.
