Warhammer Online

Following a successful launch earlier this year (September 18, 2008) Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning (WAR) will receive its first official update “this winter” (2008) in the form of two new character classes: Empire’s Knight of the Blazing Sun and Dark Elf Black Guard.

A press release issued earlier this week (October 17, 2008) by Mythic Entertainment describes the Knights of the Blazing sun as members of a cult devoted to Myrmidia, the goddess of warfare and protector of civilization. As frontline combatants, these Knights rely on advanced tactical knowledge to outmaneuver their foes.

The Dark Elf Black Guard, on the other hand, reject sophisticated tactics in favour of brute force, fine armour and deadly blades. Under the orders of the Witch King himself, the Black Guard is “embodiment of hatred and disdain,” a near insurmountable force which few can resist.

Eurogamer notes that these two classes were among the those that Mythic Entertainment scrapped in the months leading up to the release of WAR.

The developer has yet to confirm whether or not either of the other two axed classes, Greenskin Choppa and Dwarf Hammerer, will also see the light of day in a future update.
