When Alan Wake was unveiled to the public, I, along with other gamers, expressed interest in its premise. It featured the titular author trying to make sense of his life after the loss of his fiancé resulted in his suffering from insomnia and being treated at a sleeping clinic in Bright Falls, Washington. Wake then sees a woman who resembles his fiancé, dreams about her and quickly writes a book. Sadly, unlike the last time, where Wake’s dreams were pleasant, these new rounds of imaginings are nightmarish in nature, forcing Wake to find answers in Bright Falls.
As this game was helmed by Remedy, the same developers who created Max Payne, expectations dictated that the game would progress to become successful. Sadly, that has not been the case, as the game had essentially vanished from public view, nearly ensuring it a place alongside Duke Nukem Forever as a game that looks, sounds and plays well, but will never see release due to problems that exist behind the scenes.
A new trailer has since surfaced detailing the challenges that Wake will face in his new neighborhood, which can be seen below. Seeing it in action reminds me more of Silent Hill than Remedy’s now-famous third-person shooter. In fact, one could also compare this project to Heavy Rain, a similarly-veined psychological thriller that is due for release on Sony’s Playstation 3.
The trailer ends with no new release date, meaning that it is unknown when, or if, players will have the chance to experience this game for themselves. Let’s hope Alan wakes up from his nightmares soon enough so that he can tell his story to eager Xbox 360 owners.

This makes me think of a mixture of Silent Hill and The Dark Half. Hopefully it does make its way out to the public.
