E3 2009Well, sorry for getting your hopes up kids. The Entertainment Software Association has officially announced that the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2009 (E3 2009) will indeed be returning to the Los Angeles Convention Center on June 2-4, 2009.

Unfortunately though, the expo will not be open to the public as we previously reported. Instead, the show will only be open to “”international and US-based media, analysts, retailers, developers and business partners.” That means not you… or possibly me.

This does mean however, that the show will return to its former shadow of being an industry entertainment spectacle. It also means that media there will once again have to trudge through various booth babes wearing scantily-clad clothing in attempt to help sellers trying to peddle their wares for stories.

But what this really means is the possible return of previously resigned members of the ESA. Now that the show has allowed retailers back in, maybe developers and publishers will find those membership dues a little more… worth while.

  1. You're speculating just a bit. We don't know what format or requirements E3 2009 will have. Just because E3 is bigger next year doesn't necessarily mean there will be booth babes. I hope there aren't. The games industry is in serious need of growing up.

I'm hoping my company sends me there in addition to PAX (and possibly Leipzig).
