Gene Simmons GuitarWe were officially blown away when Logitech unveiled its $250 super guitar controller for Guitar Hero World Tour with all its realistic body features. That was before we knew about the Gene Simmons Axe Guitar that’s made for both Guitar Hero and Rock Band for the PlayStation 2 and PS3. It’s being sold for $79.99 on Amazon and will become officially available on October 31, 2008.

The main draw of this guitar is its unique look. This guitar looks like a battle ax and that’s just plain cool. It’s not everyday we see what appears to be an officially licensed third party videogame product that works off the persona of Gene Simmons.

It’s great that we can use it with both games although it doesn’t have the touch sensitive strip that Guitar Hero World Tour guitars come with.

If your the type is proud of having a shrine dedicated to videogame instruments, you owe it to yourself to at least take a look this guitar. It can be a good conversation starter and one vital part to finishing that Gene Simmons Halloween costume.

  1. This guitar is great – some googling revealed an interesting behind the scenes story:

Looks like this company is the one who actually designed it for Gene Simmons – but the thing is – I2G/Gene stiffed them and never paid for the building of it. These people are the ones behind the Flashback 2 and other cool looking products as well – they build electronic works of art. If Gene played a concert – he'd expect to get paid, well these people built what looks like a great product, real shame that didn't get paid.
