DJ Hero confirmed

Yes! The oft-rumored DJ-flavored version of the uber-popular Guitar Hero franchise has just been confirmed, thanks to a Joystiq interview with Brian Bright:

“Activision’s doing a DJ Hero game, and I can’t comment on what we’re doing. But… we’re working on the future and next gen. If I wasn’t excited about it I wouldn’t be there.”

A post at 1Up has the brief history of the oft-rumored title, including the little news nugget back in February regarding Activision’s trademarking of the DJ Hero title, but this is the first real confirmation of the game. There are no firm details yet, but I’d be willing to bet that the gameplay will follow a fairly similar structure to GH, and that some kind of funky turntable-esque controller will be included in the package. It just wouldn’t be a Hero game without it.
