Need for Speed Obama adIt was a big deal back when a Barack Obama presidential campaign ad appeared in Burnout Paradise back in the beginning of October, 2008. Now, expect even more coverage as the 2008 presidential race comes to a close – the Obama campaign purchased ad space in 18 different video games.

The first Obama ad appearance was in Burnout Paradise, but now ads for the Democrat candidate are also appearing in Guitar Hero 3, Madden 09, Nascar 09, NBA Live 08, Need for Speed: Carbon, Need for Speed: ProStreet, NHL 09 and Skate. The majority of the games which have Obama ads appearing in them are EA titles.

The game ads are appearing across the US, but ten states are specifically being targeted. So if you live in Colorado, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio or Wisconsin, you might have seen these ads for a longer period of time or more often. The ads will finish their run today (November 3, 2008). So if you haven’t seen one yet and want to – fire up the Xbox 360, get out Guitar Hero 3, Madden 09 or Burnout Paradise and keep a close eye on the in-game advertising.
