NationStates 2 logoWhat timing! The open beta of NationStates 2 has picked Election Day 2008 (November 4) as the launch date! NationStates 2 is the latest version of NationStates, a primarily text-based browser game where you create a nation and then answer questions and issues to improve and shape your own state. So if you’re not satisfied with how the elections turn out tonight, you can create your own nation and do it your way.

You begin by “creating” an account and nation. You provide a motto, a currency, pick how big a world you want your nation to be in, pick a flag, decide on a national animal, name your newspaper and appoint a capital city. You then answer 10 setup questions to help create your nation’s initial standing.

I’d like to tell you what happens after that, and perhaps provide a screenshot, but I can’t. Why? Because as of 1:39pm CST today (November 4, 2008), I keep receiving an error message when I try to submit the answers to my 10 setup questions.

An internal server error occurred. Please try again later.

Oh well. I guess I’ll have to wait and create “Midgardian” another day. It is disappointing that, on the day of an open beta, there’d be such a devastating glitch or issue.
