The Old Man Game Paul DavisPaul Davis, independent game developer, has just released a free PC demo of his sidescrolling action title The Old Man Game. It features a silly background story, incredibly detailed character sprites, seven levels to explore and a compact download (3.6mb). Did I mention it is free? Okay, good. It sounds a little like Metal Slug to me, since the old man has to save female hostages while also journeying through CORP LAB to take down Dr. Butt-head and his troops.

An interesting bit of background surrounds The Old Man Game. It was originally a GameBoy Advance homebrew demo. In fact, the official The Old Man Game site has a page devoted to the original GBA version of the game, and even has a download link in case people want to try playing it on an emulator.

Now, I haven’t played The Old Man Game‘s demo yet, but based on some screenshots and character sprites shown on the site, I’d say there may be some humorous mature, or sophomoric, situations. I’d guess, based on the images, that this would be a 16+ title. If that doesn’t bother you, and you have a PC with Windows 98 or better, you’ll be able to give The Old Man Game demo a chance.
