Fans of additional game content will undoubtedly find reason to be played with this week’s Playstation Store update, as games including Bioshock, Dead Space and LittleBigPlanet found their stocks on the rise as they were gifted with additional perks that will assuredly cause gamers to give them a second look.
LittleBigPlanet players will be pleased with the addition of new costumes for protagonist Sackboy which draw inspiration from the hit Playstation Portable title LocoRoco. As this title was received favorably by critics, Sony made a smart choice in referencing it. They even made a smarter choice by making this item free, as players would be mad in paying for something as trivial as costumes.
Bioshock players will be pleased to see the addition of challenge rooms and extra events that will require extensive knowledge of Rapture in order to ensure success. As I already own Bioshock on the Xbox 360, I have little use for the Playstation 3 version. However, for others who have yet to play the game or desire to see how it looks on the Playstation 3 will have this added benefit to sink their teeth into, and it proves a strong value for its $2.99 price tag.
Dead Space bring a large amount of content to this latest update, mainly coming in the form of assistant packs designed to help progression through the game that much more enjoyable. For prices that range from $0.99 to $4, players can obtain packs that will add style and functionality to their existing weapons, as well as including new ones. For instance, downloading the Big Gun Pack will allow players’ access to the Steam Force Punk Gun.
Along with beefy content updates for these three games, this update includes the latest batch of Guitar Hero, Karaoke Revolution and Rock Band songs for players to practice on. Guitar Hero players will be able to jam to hits from the Raconteurs track pack, which has songs such as “Hold Up” and “Salute Your Solution.” The songs can be purchased individually for $1.99 each or as a pack for $5.49.
Rock Band players will have the opportunity to jam to purchase track packs from Mission of Burma, Dead Kennedys and Century Media Girls of Metal. As is the case with Guitar Hero, the packs can be purchased for $5.49 or as individual songs for $1.99.
Karaoke Revolution players will have the opportunity to sing songs such as “All You Wanted” and “Black Hole Sun,” great songs that are well worth their respective $1.49 price tags.
These content additions come alongside the usual batch of demos, game trailers, movie trailers and PS3 themes. While the demos, game trailers and movie trailers are free, a few of the themes will set players back anywhere from $0.99 to $2.00.
Of course, no price is too large when it comes to being a die-hard Playstation fan.
