Holiday Bundle
For buyers who have been on the fence about buying a Playstation 3, perhaps what is offered here should aid in tipping your funds towards Sony’s cause.

A new Best Buy holiday bundle, based on information from here, shows an 80 GB Playstation 3 that includes both Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction and Casino Royale (the movie) on Blu-Ray. The items are expected to go on sale on November 28, 2008, (aka Black Friday) and will cost $400.

Ratchet’s latest adventure has been reviewed favorably by sites including IGN and Gamepro. While it has not completely escaped criticism, the game has still managed to please fans of the series along with those looking for a traditional platformer on the Playstation 3.

As for the Casino Royale movie on Blu-ray, it has also received favorable reviews.

It remains to be seen whether or not these bundles will help in making the Playstation 3 a viable console this holiday season. It is important to note that even with these added incentives, the console remains the most expensive out of the trio, considering that Microsoft has since dropped the price of its entry level console to even less than that of Nintendo’s Wii.

As for the Wii itself, it is selling well to the point that it doesn’t even need a price cut. In fact, the Wii could raise it price by only a few dollars and individuals would still buy it.

While this bundle is an excellent strategic move by Sony, it is merely the first salvo in their long war for console domination.
