seaman 2 for ps2 screen shot 2005According to a post on Seaman designer Yoot Saito’s blog, he is currently working on an iPhone game in the same vein as the mega popular 1999 Dreamcast title. Little else is known about the game save for it being titled Gabo and involving a caveman, which 1UP points out as being a “a stripped down version of the caveman portions of Seaman 2“.

Seaman 2 was originally released in Japan for the PS2 in 2005. It placed the player in a god-like role watching over island inhabitants, which probably had something to do with it not being released stateside. The game was also controlled through a special controller that was equipped with a microphone.

Gabo, however, does not seem to use the voice functionality that made Seaman games so popular, something that is strange considering the platform of choice being a phone. Then again, I guess if they wanted an equal experience for iPod Touch users, they would have to omit voice function. Still, it’s not like there aren’t microphones out for the iPod Touch.

The game is set to release in Japan soon at 450 Yen (about US$5) in a few weeks (no exact date given) and a worldwide release will be set soon after that. In the meantime, check out the video below of Gabo in action:
