Sony PS3 HomeGet ready for your open house, because Home‘s open beta begins December 11, 2008. After an incredibly long wait, delays, a closed beta and anxious murmurings over what imminent in the “launch is imminent” means, Sony will finally open the doors to the masses. I bet that two year wait feels like nothing now.

Residents of North America, Europe and Japan will all be experiencing Home at the same time. However, not every experience will be identical. There will be exclusive content, advertising and environments for each region. It also sounds like some advertisers (like Diesel in the European version) will even be already selling cash accessories or items for avatars. Plus, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune and Far Cry 2 areas have already been confirmed for the North American version of Home.

It will be easy for PS3 users to get Home as well. It is a free download, and all you’ll need to do is select the Home icon under PlayStation Network from the system menu (XMB). You might have to reboot your PS3 for the Home icon to show up on December 11 though. And, of course, your PS3 will have to be connected to the internet.

So get ready to start exploring a new virtual world and decorating a brand new space! Be sure to let us know what you think of Home‘s open beta, after you take part.

  2. Just came across it today.

Sadly, I'm not going to be using Home myself. I'm a Wii girl. :P

  3. Ah. Well. Wii will have fun for you online. But when you decide to join the darkside your more than welcome to join Mii and my
    friends. LOL.

Oh. Did you noticed Packrat changed … AGAIN. It's quite frustrating that all the good cards cost money now. :(

  4. Nice play on words. XD If I did get a PS3, it'd have to be one with backwards compatibility. The idea of one Sony system is great.

I know. I only played to finish the wedding series of cards, then stopped. I still have the program added (so I don't lose all my achievements! XD), but I never really play anymore.
