Fans of the tubular turtles of the late 80s/early 90s, and the more recent revival, rejoice – the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are slated to star in a new Wii brawler. According to 1Up, the newly announced title will be a four player fighting game developed by folks who have collectively worked on such awesome games as Ninja Gaiden, Dead or Alive and Super Smash Bros. Brawl, which is very good news for action/fighter fans.
Very few details have been announced yet, but so far, so good – a solid development pedigree speaks volumes. The only thing I take issue with is 1up writer Chris Pereira’s assertion that no previous TMNT games were good. No way! The original TMNT game on NES was spectacular (and hard as hell), and it’s arcade-y sequel was so awesome at the time – it had kick-ass co-op play on the NES, and I loved it.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go play with my old action figures and try to get the theme song out of my head.
