Child's PlayThe Child’s Play Charity Dinner Auction, held December 9, 2008, was a rousing success. The $125 per person event ended up raising over $200,000, thanks to the 400 people who attended and bid on over 100 game related items. Some highlights of the evening included Harmonix giving a $30,000 check representing the proceeds from the Rock Band PAX Pack downloadable content and an opportunity to have Jerry Holkins write “a song about how awesome you are” that sold for $4,300.

Because of this incredibly successful event, Child’s Play has now raised $1,070,000 this year for children’s hospitals. Before the Charity Dinner Auction, on December 15, 2008, $720,895 worth of donations had been collected. The goal for this year was $750,000 in donations, and the Dinner Auction helped surpass that figure.

Donations are still being accepted, so you can help that number get even higher. Wouldn’t it be great to see $1.1 million dollars go towards donating money and games to children’s hospitals this year? Of course it would. You can visit the official Child’s Play site to make a donation, if you’re so inclined. Besides, it’s tax deductable.
