A massive expansion is being added into Regnum Online today, one that can totally change the whole concept of behind this free-to-play, realm vs. realm MMO game. At 6pm Greenwich Mean Time today (December 17, 2008), the Invasions expansion will be added, and players will be able to not only attack other realms, but also invade, pillage and plunder another realm if they are able to hold an area, cross the wall and find the two Realm Gems in the location they are invading.
If you’re interested in checking out the game, now that you can not only attack other groups and realms, but also leave them totally decimated if you win, I suggest checking out the Regnum Online site. It has quite a few guides to help you get started. Before long, you’ll be picking your site (Alsius, Ignis or Sytris) and fighting against other players and enemies.
A unique aspect of Regnum Online is its requirements. It is not only for Windows users, but Linux users as well! The Linux game client is considered experimental, but at least it’s there. Mac users are out of luck – Regnum Online‘s not for them.

With this update NGD studios is selling extremely powerful epic items(armor and weapons) that will totally dominate non pay items. So it is no longer accurate to call this game free….as a free player will be owned terribly badly. Frankly, as one of the highest scoring players in regnum history, it is my opinion that this update has ruined the game, once and for all.
That's really horrible valorius. I had no idea that the pay items sold with Regnum Online: Invasion would "break" the game. Its a shame, because the idea of invading another realm that you've beaten sounds really cool.
There is more to it than that, of course. The lag is just absolutely horrible, and has never really been improved.
Oh, btw, i got banned in-game for posting negative reviews on various Game sites about Regnum. Which kinda speaks volumes about the game staff as well.
Seriously…do not waste any time on this game.
This is a link to the NGD forums…apparently the lag is so bad in the new update that the game is virtually unplayable.

Hey! I played the game for last 9 months. Valorius was banned from forum because he spams it a lot. Also banned a week from game because he used Speed Hack.
Be carefull about this guy.
Hi Heljtan – Good to know there's always another side of the story and that NGD doesn't ban for no reason.
I just started playing Regnum, literally the day before the 'Invasion' change.
So I guess I'm a low level 'nub (L30… is that still low?)
I think it's pretty great. I've had no significant Lag issues, even using Vista, although i use a relatively high-spec system.
I felt I should comment, because there is a massive lie in the heart of what valosius says; premium items make no difference at all. There is no premium item that 'beats' normal game drops, or is essential, or even that is useful in an invasion context.
Poor valo0suis must be a little bitter about something, but I'm certain that the premium items jibe is wide of the mark.
Well i am not a 'new player' (i have played about 1 1/2 years), i was for a long time the 3rd highest scoring player in regnum (and still am the top scoring player in syrtis), and i led one of the largest clans in the game. Premium platinum lockboxes can be bought with real cash that you can use to get "Epic" items. An epic item boosts 3 stats, whereas a "magic" item only boost, and regular items boost no stats. But thanks for your opinion, "noob"(your word, not mine)
PS: I have never used a speed hack, and anyone who says i do is a liar.
EDIT TO CORRECT MY LAST POST: Epic boosts 3 stats/skills, magic item boosts 1, regular boosts none. Using platinum lockboxes you can simply spend real $ to get Epic or magic items that take HOURS UPON HOURS squared to find in game.
PS: At lvl 30, have you even been to WZ yet? Because yes- lvl 30 is very much low level. To the tune of you'd be dead in 2 shots from a lvl 50 archer with an epic bow and dex boost items.
Valorius, I have yet to purchase a lucky box, but have found 2 'epic' items through drops alone, and i'm sure through interaction with clanmates or other players, items suitable for your class can be obtained.
I have been in two successful invasions, where we grabbed the gems of Syrtis and Alsius, as well as countless fort/castle attacks, and a fair few defences. I have only racked up a couple hundred RP so far, but I am pretty confident I have seen a fair sample of what the WZ has to offer.
