Since the Wii doesn’t have a hard drive, owners have been forced to buy SD cards to store all the extra content they purchase. Nintendo will debut the music store for Rock Band 2 in 2009 and SanDisk is offering a way to store those songs if there is no room in the Wii’s internal memory. It may be a standard 2GB SD card but it is labeled with the Rock Band 2 and Harmonix logo which suggests a deal has taken place. The label helps to end any confusion that may arrive if you happen to have several SD cards scattered across the living room.
Right now the SanDisk website does not have a price for the card – the price is listed as $0 but, if you click on it to purchase, an error woindows reads, “Sorry, this product is currently not in store.” The announcement declared the card will sell for $12.99. The card can hold about 75 songs assuming each song is 24 MB. The Wii will stream the music from the card as the game is being played.
