Lemon Co. spent three years working on this project with 23 people, and came up with a MMO that has large maps, adequate skill sets for classes characters created in 3D that were then turned into 2D sprites and even included guild, party, trading, arena and postage systems.
Perhaps most intriguing is what is being labeled as Fantasia‘s PET system. If you aren’t playing the game, you can receive text messages letting you know that your character has found or acquired certain items. Perhaps the postage system will also use the PET system to let you know friends want to play or there’s an important guild event when you aren’t actually playing the game.
The game has just entered the closed beta period in Korea. Hopefully, if Fantasia does well there, it will find its way across the ocean and perhaps receive a world wide release. I think gamers are ready for a cell phone MMO.
My, doesn’t that screenshot look, well, busy. It isn’t that I’m not impressed. I am. What I can see of the characters/enemies/environment looks really good. Fantastic, in fact. But, it seems a bit difficult to actually see much of anything, what with all the text and special effects. It all seems like just too much to process.
