The Writers Guild of America’s nominations for the 2009 awards are out, and it turns out there’s a dark horse among the competition for Best Writing in a Videogame. Alongside games like Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3, Fallout 3, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and Tomb Raider: Underworld is a little, familiar independent game called Dangerous High School Girls in Trouble!. Yup, independent developer Mousechief has just received another honor for their fantastic adventure game.
Now we’ll all just have to wait and see if, on February 7, 2009, Mousechief manages to win. Dangerous High School Girls in Trouble! is already a proven winner, having received eight awards, accolades and honorable mentions from outlets like the Casual Game Association, GameTunnel.com, IndieCade, and Gamezebo.com. Besides, if Dead Head Fred can win, why not DHSGiT?
Mousechief definitely deserves this honor. In fact, Dangerous High School Girls in Trouble! deserves to win for best writing in a game. It’s clever, funny and incredibly innovative. I’d honestly have to say that DHSGiT was easily one of the best games I played in 2008.
