Horseland Junior WorldHorseland has gone through some major updates that will change the way players experience the free-to-play virtual pet game. Instead of just taking care of a horse, people now have the opportunity to explore a more extensive environment, with even 3D obstacle courses. It sounds as though most of the updates pertain to Horseland World, the version of the game where you raise, train, breed and interact with your own horses, as opposed to Horseland Jr., which lets children play as characters from the Horseland cartoon.

The biggest change is the addition of avatars. You now have both horse and human avatars to represent you and your steeds, and can customize both suit you. There are also some additional competition aspects – you can create obstacle courses and run them as well. You can also visit the tack shop to spend coins you’ve earned on items for your horse or your character.

It’s always nice to see a company completely rebuildl a game to try and make it better for the players. Especially if its a free-to-play deal, like Horseland is. I tried to look online to see what Horseland was like before, but couldn’t get a clear picture. I also tried to register to see what the game experience is like now, write about it and get a screenshot, but the registration page wouldn’t load when I tried at 12:05pm CST January 13, 2009. Oh well, no big deal. I didn’t really want to raise virtual horses anyway.
