Amplitude
Sure, Harmonix is on to bigger and badder things these days, what with the massive success of Rock Band (and the first two Guitar Hero titles that almost single-handedly birthed the rhythm-music genre), but CEO Alex Rigopulos is still interested in making a sequel to the developer’s awesome Amplitude. MTV is reporting on a recent interview in which Rigopoulos stated an interest in continuing the ultra-funky series.

From the post:

“I’d love to do a sequel to Amplitude, actually. It’s an issue of prioritization. It’s challenging enough to keep the Rock Band train on the tracks. We’ve grown from about 80 or 90 people a couple years ago to more than 300 now, and managing that kind of growth takes focus. For us, that lingering question of ‘what are we going to do about Amplitude’ is still very much out there. I would love to come back and do it right for the PlayStation 3, for example.”

I would love to see an Amplitude sequel – Frequency (the prequel) and Amplitude were two of the coolest, most fun pre-Guitar Hero music games ever made. Sometimes I even prefer to throw Frequency into the old PS2 instead of starting up a GH session. Those games had a purity and a slickness that just can’t be matched. I hope this happens – even if it’s far down the road at this point.
