Glacier2It’s always exciting to hear about a company that is just starting to make games for a system they previously haven’t worked with before. It can be a good way to see new and innovative ideas, sometimes, or perhaps a fresh take on an established genre. Sometimes, you’ll get to see something special. It turns out that Team6 Game Studios has just announced one of it’s first Wii games, Glacier2. It’s a combat-racing game that takes place as you drive (plummet?) down the Alps. A release window hasn’t yet been set.

It seems like the goal in Glacier2 is success by any means necessary. You step into one of seven cars and then take off through one of 18 different levels, trying to get to the bottom and finish line first. If some other car’s ahead of you, you take them out with weapons, or by strategically ramming them into a trap. It sounds a bit like the Twisted Metal games, only with more emphasis on the track and racing portions. Oh, and with Wii remote controls – When a press release goes out of its way to mention systems designed specifically for the Wii and Wii remote, you know there are going to be some kind of special “motion” controls.

Glacier2 could end up being interesting. After all, the Twisted Metal games were fun. I’m a little disappointed at the number of vehicles though. You’d think, since the game’s all about racing with armed and beefed-up cars, that the developer would want to include at least 10 different vehicles so buyers have lots of replay value and options.
