PopCap games coming to PlayStation Network

PopCap is known for creating some rather addictive puzzle games that can be played on PC or handheld devices such as an iPhone or DS. Thanks to a deal struck between Sony Online Entertainment and PopCap, five games will be coming to the PlayStation Network in the near future.

Bejeweled 2 was the first game to be released as a part of yesterday’s (January 29, 2008) PSN update for $9.99. The other four games to be released include Heavy Weapon, Peggle, Feeding Frenzy and Zuma.

Bejeweled 2 will feature four different modes of gameplay modes such as Puzzle, Endless, Classic and Action. The PSN release of Bejeweled 2 will be bringing some graphical improvements that can be viewed in full 1080p HD and support for Trophies. It wouldn’t quite be Bejeweled if we couldn’t play the game on the go which is why the game is compatible with remote play on PSP.

This game is built to have a big replay factor because the experience is never the same twice. Some hidden modes are locked within Bejeweled 2 that we will have to discover for ourselves. There doesn’t seem to be any online mulitplayer or leaderboards for that matter which is very strange in a point gathering oriented game such as this. Either way, the fun factor will be high.
