The last time we talked about Secondhand Lands, it was in its open beta phase and sounded interesting enough. An MMO set in a fairy tale land, except the fairy tale creatures weren’t the sweet, special snowflakes we were brought up with. As mentioned before, it’s an MMO with 120 quests where players decide to be a catgirl, scrapper, sheep or wolf who’s devoted to either Little Bo Peep or Red Riding Hood.
Now that the full version of the game is finished, you can play without worrying about any kind of glitches and enjoy all the quests, areas and NPC characters in the game. Two features that the official press release made specific note of are a crafting system, where you can make character accessories using item drops from defeated critters and the fact that sheep or wolf players can wear saddles and have catgirl or scrapper players ride them into battle.
Of course, in order to download and play Secondhand Lands you need four things. You have to have a Pixel Mine account, the Pixel Mine installer, a PC with Windows 2000 or better and DirectX 9 or better. If you’ve got all those things, and you don’t mind having to go through Pixel Mine to play the game, you’ll be all set!
It looks like it has a lot of potential, especially since there are two set kind of character types with the four legged wolves and sheep and standard scrapper and catgirls. Plus, the fact that Secondhand Lands doesn’t take itself too seriously and allows players to have fun in a skewed stereotypical world sets it apart from the fantasy and sci-fi MMOs which run rampant on the internet.
