With all of the attention that Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich has been receiving following his media blitz, it was only a matter of time before someone in the gaming world was able to poke fun of his exploits.
A group of individuals have already taken up this cause, submitting a title called Pay2Play that, according to Kotaku, they describe as an “Illinois governor trading game” where the objective is to “sell off parts of Illinois government.”
The game gives players 30 days to pay back the unions, make a significant amount of money and then leave town, all before being impeached. Based on what is presented here, there is no doubt that the creators of this game intended to have it follow as close to the events surrounding Blago’s removal as possible.
Unfortunately, the game is still pending approval from the powers-that-be at Apple. One can imagine that they want to make sure that this title is not too close to reality, as it could result in the company being the victim of unexpected controversy.
Let’s hope that this game sees release, as it could be a humorous sentiment on the stressful political times that are plaguing our nation. In fact, the game’s developers even made it a point to include “alcopops,” which were banned from advertising in games by the Illinois legislature. It really sounds like the game’s developers did their homework this time around.
Perhaps this game is one that I should consider purchasing an Iphone for, ignoring all its other cool features.
