Spread the love: MMO Valentine’s Day 2009 events

Valentine’s Day is quickly coming, but perhaps your loved one isn’t nearby. If you’re in the middle of a long distance love affair, it may be a good time to check out a free-to-play MMO, and take part in one of the special Valentine’s Day events to show your special someone just how much you care about him or her.

After all, nothing says devotion like staying at home, on your computer, for a minimum of two hours, all so you can complete certain objectives together and maybe earn some kind of special token that displays your feelings.

So let’s look at what some MMOs are up to:

Aeria Games

• Cronous: On February 9, 2009, a This Heart’s for You event was held where Blue Half-Loves could be collected from monsters, traded to become Red Half-Loves and then combined with a Blue Half-Love to create an Imperfect Love or Perfect Love item.
• Last Chaos: A Valentine’s Day Blind Date Extravaganza was held February 10, 2009. Players were able to team up with other, random players in a GM hosted hide and seek game.
• Shin Megami Tensei: Imagine Online: Technically, the SMT event isn’t romantic, but it’s about bringing players together so it works. Until February 12, 2009, players can register in the forum for the Big Brother/Big Sister Event to become a mentor or student and teach or learn more about the game. 4 participants in the event will win 20 Orbs of Speed and 20 Gift Melons. The event ends February 19.

Disney

• Pirates of the Caribbean Online: A new Valentine’s Quest is available for Unlimited Access members until February 16, 2009. If you help Sid Tackem get together with Erin Amorous, you’ll get a new clothing item.

GamesCampus

• Asda Story: A lot’s happening in Asda Story this year, and all events last until February 16, 2009. Players can take part in the Valentine’s Day Gift Giving Event, where players over level 24 get items for players under level 24, and can then give those items away to earn special titles. You can also collect L, O, V and E letters from monsters to try and get a Valentine’s Day Pet Egg, or make Valentine’s Day candy. Monsters are not only dropping letters, they’re also dropping twice as many items and giving players twice as much experience as normal.
• Manga Fighter: Until February 15, 2009, a Lovey Dovey event is running where hearts drop after every fight. Whoever gets the most, gets a prize. At the end of the event, the ten players who’ve collected the most hearts get special items and Don to spend in the shop.
• Shot-Online: Two new shirts are for sale in the item malls until February 16, 2009 – Lovely and Lonely. Lovely shirts give players +1 impact and skill, and Lonely shirts give +1 power and skill. They also broadcast your relationship status.
• Xiah Rebirth: Monsters are dropping Valentine’s Gift Boxes until February 16, 2009, filled with all sorts of special items.

gPotato

• Corum Online: A temporary sale is being held in the item shop, where you get 5 Master Libra Zodiac Cards, 10 Production Probability Cards (30%) and 20 Cancer Zodiac Cards for 2,500 gP points.
• FlyFF: A Vagrant Gift Giveaway is running until February 23, 2009. Every new character created gets a Welcome Gift Box goodie bag. A Baby Blue Dragon and three Scrolls of Amplification are included.
• Rappelz: On February 4, 2009, players received a 7 Day Hidden Village Pass. Also, until February 17, Love Heart pets and 90 Day Hidden Village Passes are 50% off and monsters drop Valentine’s Hearts, which can be consumed to recover status and grant buffs.
• Tales Runner: Two events are running concurrently. One is the Best Proposal Screenshot event and the other is the Best Couple Screenshot. Each requires you to take screenshots of your character either proposing, or with a fellow player by February 11, 2009. Tales Runner forum members vote on the pictures until February 14, and on February 15 the winners are announced. The players who took the five most loved screenshots get prizes.

IGG

• Myth War II: A KungFu Competition is being held in a We Fight for Love event. On February 13, 2009, the 10 highest scoring players will be able to have a wedding ceremony on Valentines Day with a GM as a Master of Ceremony, with IGG covering all the wedding expenses and giving gold, a pair of Rings for Espousal and a short-term Home Upgrader as wedding gifts. A screenshot contest and a quest where players can team up to help Kelina and Andrew will also be available.
• Tales of Pirates: Two events are being held. Serendipity lasts until February 12, 2009, and during it male and female players can collect lovers’ cards from Outlaw Isle and Icicle Castle, exchange them with the opposite gender player with a matching card and then turn them in for prizes. The second event, Help Me Cupid, lasts from February 15-18, 2009. During this time, male and female players collect keepsakes, then attempt to find an opposite gender player to exchange keepsakes and earn prizes.
• Wonderland Online: You can visit the official site and send a customized, Valentine’s Day e-card to a loved one. There are also new Valentine’s character clothing available, for example the Lordliness, Banquet Style, Oriental Charm and Wildness Charm collections. A Valentine’s Royal Suit event is also being held, where everyone who spends 1,000 WL or more in the cash shop is entered into a drawing to win a Valentine’s Royal Suit costume. One or two winners are chosen each day. Also, anyone who spends over 4,000 WL points until February 24 will get 350 WL back.
• Zu Online Like with Wonderland Online, you can visit the official site and send a Valentine’s Day card.

Nexon

• MapleStory: Quite a lot of stuff is happening around Valentine’s Day, and all the events end on February 24, 2009. First, all Wedding Ticket items are discounted 15%. The Ace of Hearts is appearing with a quest. Monsters are dropping roses and chocolates throughout the event period, the Onyx Chest map is giving extra items and rewards and players can enter the Amoria PQ three times a day. The wedding quests in Amoria also give 50% more exp and rewards.

Ntreev

• Trickster Online Revolution: Until February 11, 2009 a Lonely Hearts Club event is running. Players submit a one paragraph post telling who their favorite Trickster GM is, why they like that GM and what they want to do with that GM for one hour.

OGPlanet

• CABAL Online: A Pandamonium event is running from February 12-26, 2009. You can get a Charisma Pan bundle with a panda pet and character costume, and enter to win 1,000 Astros to use in the item shop.
• La Tale: There are two contests going on in, one called “Tell the Greatest Story of All… Yours,” where you can create short movies or music videos to enter to win a Kanzo Stone. All entries get 10 Golden Darts of Luck. On February 12, 2009, a Valentine Fashion Contest is also starting, where players can enter screenshots of their character in Valentine items to try and win an XP Reassign Puzzle, Warp Crystals or an Iris Ring.

• Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning: The Night of Murder event is going on right now, and will last until February 15, 2009. Elf god Khaine is now in the game, and if you complete his quests, you can get rewards like “The Murderous” title or the Talisman of Fell Whispers.
