Trillion Dollar Bailout
Anyone who says that games have no potential to comment on serious social/cultural/financial issues has clearly never had the pleasure of playing Trillion Dollar Bailout, one of the new (and one of the most hilarious/interesting) free games available at Addicting Games. The title, which blatantly rips on the current economy-in-the-toilet situation and allows players to smack Wall Street fat cats while doling out cash to innocent folks, allows players to vent their obvious frustrations.

From the game’s page:

“Punish greedy fat cats and save honest peoples! Hand out moneys to homeowners. Put the hurt on dudes in suits! Do it right and save the world!”

What’s most interesting is the fact that each player action (whether they decide to give money or a smack down) affects the economy in the game. It’s rather interesting, and a totally surprising high-brow commentary, embedded right into a game about enacting violent fantasies on the a**-holes who helped to bring about this whole mess. It’s really quite cool to see games pop up that deal with serious issues in interesting (or completely satirical) ways – and man, it helps when they’re fun.

The best part – it’s free. It really is the perfect salve for a recession-weary gamer looking to kick some righteous butt.
