Backstage with Guitar Hero a new gamespace by activision

A new PlayStation Home world called Backstage with Guitar Hero just opened on March 27, 2009, and already fans of the Guitar Hero franchise have poured into the new game space to rock out with friends.

According to Carlson Choi, director of Interactive Marketing at Activision/Blizzard, the idea for the “Backstage with Guitar Hero” game space began nine months ago with Sony.

“Rather than creating a publisher focused space (eg Activision Space), we’ve decided to create a franchise driven space around Guitar Hero. Our expectation is for this to be a virtual community where our PS3 Guitar Hero fan base can hang out, check out what is new for the franchise and share their Guitar Hero experiences with others,” Choi explained.

The new Home world is easy to find using the world map on your virtual PSP. Once there you can explore the lounge area, watch videos of upcoming Guitar Hero games or even try your hand at the Guitar Hero mini-game. During the event gamers were given a chance to play the game and those with the highest score will be rewarded with a prize. The game is simple, similar to the once popular electronic game Simon Says using your button pad to strum the cords of an electric guitar.

But just as Activision is providing a fun space for PS3 Home users, fans will also help Activision with shaping the future of this popular game’s Home space.

“Since this is a community for our PS3 Guitar Hero fans, our goal is to listen to what they want and design around their expectations. We already have some ideas on what we’d like to do with the space but it will all depend on what the community tells us before we actually solidify the next phase,” Choi said and added “we are in discussions with our partner at Sony for future phases of the “Backstage with Guitar Hero” space.”
