Amazon World of Goo WiiWareIf you live in North America and disliked the hassle of buying Nintendo Points cards or using a credit card and your Wii to get points for a game, Amazon may have you covered. Well, in the future it may have you covered. For the first time, a WiiWare game is appearing at the internet retailer. For $14.99, buyers receive a game code that will unlock World of Goo when typed into the code section in the Wii Shop Channel. The good part about the deal is that there’s no mark-up. World of Goo‘s standard price in the Wii Shop Channel is 1,500 Wii Points, or $15.

At the moment World of Goo is the only WiiWare game available through Amazon, and it is only available to US residents. Casualgaming.biz was able to get a comment from Nintendo, stating that the sale of WiiWare through Amazon will be a deal exclusive to the US, and isn’t being considered for the UK. Hopefully, this is only the first of many WiiWare product listings on the site.

A WiiWare Amazon store hasn’t been opened yet. Seeing as how an XBox LIVE store is available, filled with various games shoppers can purchase codes for, it doesn’t seem to be an unlikely prospect. It could be nice, especially since Amazon product listings have screenshots, game descriptions and occasionally even gameplay videos.

I think it’s a good idea. It seems pretty simple, and in the end you’re getting the game no matter what. Plus, you don’t have to worry about having left over amount of points after a purchase like you do with a card.

This move also marks Amazon’s continued interest in intangible game sales. First, Amazon started selling direct download computer games. Then it opened an XBox LIVE store on the site. Now WiiWare. Perhaps an Amazon branch of the PlayStation Store will be next.
